15/08/2017 Please Note Hepatitis B Vaccination for travellers

A global shortage of hepatitis B vaccine has resulted in severe restrictions in UK vaccine availability.  There may well be restrictions for several months.  Hepatitis B vaccine can be effectively used both preventively (pre-exposure) and after exposure (post-exposure).

Temporarily APOHS are unable to start new pre-exposure vaccination programmes for travellers or to offer ‘routine’ booster doses.  In the meantime it remains vital that all travellers to areas where hepatitis B is a risk take all the recommended precautions and seek medical attention should a high risk injury arise.
